the lebanese never differentiated between religions and sects until recently and it is all because of poverty, ignorance and political fudelism.
I remember my grandmother telling me about how everyone coexisted and about her jewish, muslim, druze and christian friends. how she used to go to visit them and them visiting her and eating at each others’ houses.
Mr. Beydoun, you are doing a great job promoting tolerence, and introducing the world with a new picture of lebanon and encouraging our immigrants from all communities to come back, especially the lebanese jews. after all, we should be defined as Humans and Lebanese and never by our religion.
As for those who confuse a jew for being an israeli and/or a zionist, it is about time for them to know that being a jew doesnt necessarily mean that one is a zionist or an israeli.
Long Live Lebanon & the Lebanese :) Best,
    Leila.
